WINTER SERIES 2024

REFRACTION : THROUGH THE FAMILIAR SHADOWS
Fermata Ballet Collective invites dancers of all levels and abilities to join our 3-day community workshop, designed to explore movement, choreography, and personal reflection in a supportive and collaborative environment. This year’s theme, "Refraction: Through The Familiar Shadows," celebrates the winter solstice—the darkest time of year—and the inner light we cultivate through our movement practice and connections with others.
Our Winter Series workshops offer dancers the chance to embody original choreography created by FBC’s professional faculty, working with a local composer each year to bring a unique sound to the process. We will have a local videographer documenting the choregraphy explorations within the workshop, allowing participants to engage in the creative process and receive a personal video package that can be used for media sharing, auditions, or reflection.
WORKSHOP HIGHLIGHTS:
• Inclusive for All Levels: Designed for teens and adults, the workshop welcomes movers of every experience level.
• Dance Technique & Choreography: Learn original choreography, experiment with different movement styles, and deepen your technical foundation.
• Round-Table Discussions & Reflection: Engage in meaningful conversations about artistry, movement, and personal growth within the dance community.
• Personal Video Package: Dancers who register for all three days will receive a custom video package, including footage of their dancing for use in auditions, social media, or personal archives.
We believe there is no single way to create, to dance, or to learn—there are infinite possibilities. Through this workshop, we aim to create a space to learn from each other, push boundaries, and find new ways to grow together as artists and individuals.
